Blu-rays Released August 30, 2011

This Year in Movies - On video this week, Prom (35% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes) and Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family (39%) are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Even with a small budget, Prom disappointed for Disney with barely $10 million at the box office. Before the release, Hollywood Reporter wrote that Disney was in development of a Prom sequel, but unless it does surprisingly well on video, expect Disney to rework those plans. In contrast, Tyler Perry has had a long run of strong box office results. It's hard to find a more prolific and profitable person for Lionsgate.
