Movies Released July 22, 2011

This Year in Movies - Captain America: The First Avenger, and Friends with Benefits open in wide release this weekend. The third Marvel superhero movie this summer after Thor ($66 million open) and X-Men ($55 million), Captain America will look to open around $60 million. Chris Evans will have the task of introducing the comic character to the big screen and setting the stage for The Avengers movie that is slated for next May. Also in theaters this week, Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis in Friends with Benefits. Not to be confused with No String Attached that hit theaters in January with a debut of $20 million, this romantic comedy will likely have a similar first weekend.

Last weekend, Harry Potter broke nearly every record that could be broken in three days. Harry Potter did what no other movie has ever done, it sold $169 million of tickets in the US and Canada within a single 3-day weekend.
