Movies Released October 1, 2010

This Year in Movies - Case 39, Let Me In, The Social Network open in wide release this weekend. The Facebook origin story is the weekend frontrunner with box office tracking pointing to an open in the high $20-million range. Early reviews for The Social Network have been especially strong, but critical praise doesn't always translate into a strong box office start. Let Me In, the 2008 remake of Let The Right One In, also enjoys positive reviews but would be lucky to secure a second place open. Long-delayed Case 39, with Renee Zellweger, will probably struggle to gross more than low-single digits.

Last weekend, Wall Street opened at number one with $19 million in ticket sales. The Oliver Stone sequel will probably see an over 50% drop-off in its second weekend. The Owls of Ga'Hoole came in second place with around $16 million and with a strong second weekend, overtake Wall Street in next week's chart. You Again placed 5th with around $8.5 million....
