Goodman Receives 'Death Sentence' at Fox
originally posted October 16, 2006
John Goodman has signed on to star in 20th Century Fox's upcoming vigilante drama Death Sentence, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will join Kevin Bacon, Kelly Preston and Aisha Tyler in the cast of the film.
The film centers on a father, played by Bacon, whose family is attacked as part of a gang initiation. The father is out for revenge and enacts a death sentence on each gang member involved. Tyler plays a homicide detective who aids Bacon's character despite her growing suspicions that he might have committed murder.
Goodman will play Bones Darly, an arms dealer and the boss of a drug ring that includes his two sons, Billy (Garrett Hedlund, Four Brothers) and Joe (Matthew O'Leary, Brick).
The screenplay was adapted from a Brian Garfields novel, in which Tyler's character is written as a 50-year-old man. The role was revised by the filmmakers during casting.
