Plot: What's the story about?
An 8th grade girl finds social footing by following such ancient tips as: always wear white gloves, use pearls as a fashion accessory, never forget that a girdle can be a girl's best friend and be open, honest & kind. She finds that each social clique is distrustful of the others, and that all of the kids bear similar insecurities. The girl is able to find common ground and feel for the first time like she belongs.
