• Based on the popular Nickelodeon TV series. SpongeBob SquarePants 2 will be traditionally animated. However, the film will shoot live action scenes September-November 2013 in the Savannah area of Georgia.
• The original SpongeBob SquarePants Movie hit theaters in 2004 and grossed $85.4 million domestically and $54.7 million abroad, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. The film saw SpongeBob take leave from the town of Bikini Bottom to track down King Neptune's stolen crown.
