Chambers and Bob Sidell, also a makeup artist, launch Studio Six Productions (an allusion to the six Americans awaiting rescue) and announce their first movie project, to be shot in Iran. Mendez travels to Tehran in January 1980 and tells the Americans to pretend they are Canadians on a scouting trip for a big-budget Hollywood epic. The ruse works.
