A failed painter decides he would rather steal great art than paint it. As he criss-crosses Europe, he meets a rich girl who gets a thrill from art theft. After he’s caught, his co-dependent mother destroys $2 billion worth of irreplaceable masterpieces by chopping them up and tossing them into the nearby Rhine Canal.

Stranded by a plane crash a thousand miles from civilization, pilot Charlie Lavery sets out across the endless tundra for the nearest outpost. He leaves behind a young Eskimo woman—beautiful and frail. After a harrowing struggle for survival, Lavery finally collapses on the brink of death. The Social Dilemma is a powerful exploration of the disproportionate impact that a relatively small number of engineers in Silicon Valley have over the way we think, act, and live our lives. The film deftly tackles an underlying cause of our viral conspiracy theories, teenage mental health issues, rampant misinformation and political polarization, and makes these issues visceral, understandable, and urgent.
