The Machine
A seventh-year senior at Florida State University is accidentally majoring in Russian. Hank Williams, who grows up dirt poor in Alabama during the Depression, skyrockets to fame with 11 No. 1 hits, including classics "Cold, Cold Heart," "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." Williams suffers from spina bifida, which leads him to turn to alcohol and morphine for pain relief. Haunted by demons and bad habits, Williams dies in 1953 at age 29.
