After six months of barely evading capture, Meyerowitz escapes through a carefully orchestrated plan that also involves R.F.W. Cleaver, one of the most accomplished British fighter pilots of the war.

While serving in the war, Dr. Walker is captured by Confederate soldiers after boldly crossing enemy lines to treat wounded civilians and is arrested as a spy – eventually being released in a prisoner exchange.
