A human girl is abducted into a world of violent, dangerous faeries, and must scheme to ensure her escape and survival.

Austin Clay, a spy whose work is so covert that the government won’t even admit he exists, executes necessary missions. He is sent to track down a missing American operative, who was captured in the Russian countryside. This leads Clay into a conspiracy that involves a mole that has penetrated the top levels of U.S. government.

A neurosurgeon, who teaches at Harvard Medical School and other universities, believes in science over faith. Despite being a Christian, he does not embrace religious theories of the afterlife until he contracts a rare bacterial meningitis that penetrates his cerebro-spinal fluid and attacks his brain. He lies near death, comatose for seven days. He awakes with a clear recollection of what he describes as a journey to heaven.

She races against time to create a record of her life before her illness overcomes her. Spencer-Wendel and her 14-year-old daughter are fans of the reality show "Say Yes To The Dress," and so they head to Kleinfeld's so the teen can try on wedding dresses for her mom, which is always the plan before her mother took ill. Spencer-Wendel leaves behind money so her sister can eventually buy a dream dress there when her daughter is ready to get married.

The U.S. Army Special Operations Command creates a pilot program that allows elite women soldiers on the battlefield with Green Berets and Army Rangers in Afghanistan in 2010. The unit, CST-2, brings together a hand-picked group of women from the Army, and that includes 1st Lieutenant Ashley White. White and her platoon mates bond over adversity. She becomes the first CST member killed in action. White's name is placed on the Army Special Operations Memorial Wall of Honor alongside the Army Rangers she served with in the unit.
