Born on Eventide, Morrigan Crow's fated to die at midnight on her ninth birthday. She is spared when rescued by a mysterious stranger, and after they are chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, they escape to a secret city called Nevermoor.

Set in the near future, a young technologist becomes the first person to invent controllable nanotechnology software for the brain. He then becomes an unwilling pawn in an international battle to control the new technology, chased by mercenaries and government agents looking to make enhancements of their own.
