In this New York City-set comedy-drama, 16-year-old Craig (Keir Gilchrist), stressed out from the demands of being a teenager, checks himself into a mental health clinic. There he learns that the youth ward is closed – and finds himself stuck in the adult ward. One of the patients, Bobby (Zach Galifianakis), soon becomes both Craig's mentor and protege. Craig is also drawn to another 16-year-old, Noelle (Emma Roberts). With a minimum five days' stay imposed on him, Craig is sustained by friendships on both the inside and the outside as he learns more about life, love, and the pressures of growing up.

This is the story of how a washed-up 1980s pop star (Craig Ferguson) gets a chance at a new direction in his life when he discovers that he has a teenage daughter, Olivia (Charlotte Church), in Cardiff, Wales (her real-life hometown) as the result of a weekend affair he had back at the height of his fame, especially when she decides she wants to follow him with a musical career of her own, against the wishes of her mother (Jemma Redgrave).

"I Love You Beth Cooper" chronicles the story of a nerdy valedictorian who proclaims his love for the hottest and most popular girl in school - Beth Cooper - during his graduation speech. Much to his surprise, Beth shows up at his door that very night and decides to show him the best night of his life.
