Adapted from the novel by Stewart O'Nan, the story interweaves the life of a teenager, Arthur, with his onetime baby sitter Annie (Emily Mortimer), who is struggling with a young daughter and her estranged husband, Glenn (Sam Rockwell).

Two former backup soul singers Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) and Floyd (Bernie Mac) travel cross country to perform at a tribute concert in honor of their famous former band leader. They haven't spoken to each other in 20 years but reluctantly agree to travel together for the tribute performance. Both Jackson and Mac will do their own musical and dance performing in the film.

Finally, the guys behind the outrageously silly "Scary Movie" franchise have used their own 'special powers' to spoof superhero movies. After being bitten by a genetically altered dragonfly, high school loser Rick Riker develop superhuman abilities like incredible strength and armored skin.
