'Conchords' Star McKenzie an Elf in 'The Hobbit'
Flight of the Conchords star Bret McKenzie has joined the cast of The Hobbit, which began shooting March 21. New Zealand-based McKenzie made brief appearances as an extra in the first and third Lord of the Rings pics in which he achieved fan fame on the Internet with the fan-created nickname "Figwit."

The Hobbit filming begins today
Filming for The Hobbit has begun in Wellington and secret locations around New Zealand. Actors playing the diminutive hobbits, lanky elves, dwarfs and wizards, including Sir Ian "Gandalf" McKellen, have been spotted around Wellington for months since casting announcements began trickling out.
