A clinically depressed 15-year-old checks himself into an adult psychiatric ward where he gains a new lease on life.

Set in a Boston suburb, a high-tension love triangle forms between a female bank manager, a longtime thief who stole more than her heart and an equally smitten FBI agent trying to bust the crook and his gang before they can pull another big job.

But she describes other scenes as well: of discord and misunderstanding that hint at a dark secret behind Hailsham’s nurturing facade. With the dawning clarity of hindsight, the three friends are compelled to face the truth about their childhood–and about their lives now.
