Finding Joy

Pompous and self-absorbed Kyle Livingston (Josh Cooke) is unhappily stuck in his life, longing to relive the success of his first novel. His not-so-desirable life rapidly unravels forcing him to return home to his wildly eccentric family with his tail between his legs, only to discover his estranged father, Alan (Barry Bostwick), a handsome agoraphobic curmudgeon, has converted his old bedroom into a tacky bathroom, fueling Kyle’s rage against his family.

Life at home begins to show signs of improvement when Kyle meets the spunky and vivacious Joy Bailey (Liane Balaban), a delightfully offbeat bohemian beauty who recruits Kyle to help her make the world a better place, making him feel alive for the first time in ages and inspiring his writing. But it’s short-lived. Joy’s been told she’s going to die soon and wants Kyle to write her obituary.

As Kyle spends more and more time getting to know Joy, he accidentally falls in love and grows increasingly skeptical of her claim she’s dying. With the help of his wacky family, Kyle hopes to convince Joy she has many good years left and should spend them with him. But does fate have other plans?

Coffee Town

Coffee Town is an updated workplace comedy for the generation that works out of coffee shops. Will (Glenn Howerton) is a 30-something website manager who uses a local café, Coffee Town, as his office. When the owners of the shop discuss plans to convert Coffee Town into a bar, Will enlists the help of his two best friends Chad and Gino (Steve Little and Ben Schwartz) to save his freeloading existence. In order to thwart the plans of Coffee Town's owners, the trio stages a robbery to create the illusion of an unsafe neighborhood not suitable for the proposed venue. Also standing in their way is Sam (Josh Groban), a disgruntled barista with delusions of rock star grandeur, and Will's heartache over unrequited love for Becca (Adrianne Palicki).

1st Night

Adam (Richard E. Grant) is a rich industrialist and frustrated opera singer aspiring to a more cultured world. Spurred on by playful jibes that he’s just a City suit living a capitalist dream he decides to stage an opera in his lavish country retreat. He feels sure the shallow taunting will end once his friends see him in full voice. In fact his singing might even help him win the hand of Celia (Sarah Brightman), the female conductor he’s been pursuing, especially since she is the first to be recruited for his showpiece.

For the rest of the cast and the production, Adam brings in the experts and enlists the aid of a troupe of promising young singers – led by beauty Nicoletta (Mia Maestro) and upstart Tom (Julian Ovenden) – with enough collective sexual tension to light up the stage. His choice of opera? Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, the master composer’s fabled romp through the bittersweet territory of sexual infidelity. As this motley group flexes their melodic and melodramatic muscles during rehearsals leading up to the opening night performance, it won’t be long before life imitates art as relationships flourish and flounder.

Cockneys vs Zombies

The Bitter Buddha

The film takes an unconventional journey with a true “comic’s comic”. Eddie Pepitone, a startling voice in the alt-comedy scene, has been battling on-stage for over 30 years. Now in his fifties, he is attempting to take his comedy to the next level. Throughout the film, we follow Eddie as he struggles to break through his cult status while dealing with self-doubt, sobriety and a challenging past.

Original animation, stand-up material and hilarious interviews with Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, Marc Maron and others help us gain insight into this fascinating character. Above all, “The Bitter Buddha” is an unhinged portrait of creativity, enlightenment and rage.
