After her husband's passing, Eva (Shirley MacLaine) faces life on her own for the very first time. With a doting daughter Crystal (Demi Moore) reminding her of her age every day, Eva can’t help but feel her best days have come and gone. When she receives a life insurance check erroneously made out for five million dollars instead of the expected $50,000, Eva and her best friend Maddie (Jessica Lange) decide to live life to the fullest and head for an adventure of a lifetime in Spain. Over the holidays, Ned (Bryan Cranston), an overprotective but loving dad and his family visit his daughter at Stanford, where he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). The straight-laced Ned thinks Laird, who has absolutely no filter, is a wildly inappropriate match for his daughter. The one-sided rivalry-and Ned's panic level-escalate when he finds himself increasingly out of step in the glamorous high-tech hub, and learns that Laird is about to pop the question.

Based on a true story, War Dogs follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

People -- including Dawn Wiener, who as a child was mercilessly teased as "Weiner Dog" -- find their lives inspired or changed by one particular dachshund, who seems to be spreading comfort and joy.
