Two cops (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman) track a brilliant and elusive killer who orchestrates a string of horrific murders, each kill targeting a practitioner of one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Set against the backdrop of a mythic "New West," "Silver City" follows grammatically-challenged, "user-friendly" candidate Dicky Pilager (Chris Cooper), scapegrace scion of Colorado's venerable Senator Jud Pilager (Michael Murphy), during his gubernatorial campaign. When Pilager finds that he's reeled in a corpse during the taping of an environmental political ad, his ferocious campaign manager, Chuck Raven (Richard Dreyfuss), hires former idealistic journalist turned rumpled private detective Danny O'Brien (Danny Huston) to investigate potential links between the corpse and the Pilager family's enemies. Danny's investigation pulls him deeper and deeper into a complex web of influence and corruption, involving high stakes lobbyists, media conglomerates, environmental plunderers, and undocumented migrant workers.

A private detective investigates the killing of a professor and it becomes a clash of faiths: The detective is a born-again Christian, the dead man an atheist, the accused killer an Islamic foreign student and the D.A. is Jewish.

Three college students, Ryan, Jake, and Erica, set out to film a great horror movie for one of their class projects; but during filming, something goes terribly wrong and the students suddenly find themselves in their own worst nightmare. Some of the events are caught on tape by the camera that Jake continues to record with, a camera that is later retrieved by two detectives, Adams and Dalton. It's now a race against time, and the detectives must use the video to rescue the students. As the case goes deeper, the detectives eventually find themselves in the middle of a dense forest on the outskirts of town, and what they uncover is far worse than what they could have ever imagined.
