The story follows a desert-dwelling marsupial known as a bilby who has lived under a rock his entire life before he is kicked out by his parents and told to get a life. He does so by going on a road trip with a band in the Australian Outback.

Meyers and Ebert struggle with the studio's board of directors and the ratings board, but despite being the rare major studio release with an X rating, they are vindicated when "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" is released in 1970 to big box office.
