Movies Released April 6, 2012

This Year in Movies - Titanic and American Reunion open in wide release this weekend. It's all about late 1990's nostalgia this week when the top two spots at the box office could go to films that audiences first saw in theaters over a decade ago. American Pie opened in theaters in the summer of 1999 and went on to gross over $100 million and of course spawned three theatrical sequels and four direct-to-video spin-offs. Although American Wedding debuted with over $33 million back in 2003, it’s unclear if the franchise has the same box office power this many years later. The Hollywood Stock Exchange indicates an open in the mid-20 million dollar range. Also arriving in theaters, Titanic, in its near-original 1997 form, but now in 3D. HSX indicates as weekend box office in the same range as American Reunion, which means it could be a three-way race for number one with The Hunger Games in a strong position to repeat for a third week....
