Trivia & Production Notes

Summit plans to expand on the original Highlander premise of immortals hunting each other through the ages. The original 1986 film was directed by Russell Mulcahy and starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, Clancy Brown and Roxanne Hart. It launched four sequels and three TV spinoffs.
28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has left the project. According to deadline.com, "Fresnadillo and Summit could not get past the fact they had differing views of the film, and finally agreed to disagree" (11-30-12).
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will make his feature directorial debut after serving as visual effects supervisor and second unit director on Snow White and The Huntsman (10-28-13).
The Highlander reboot has been in the works since 2008 when Lionsgate-owned label Summit acquired the rights (Hollywood Reporter, 11/22/16).
