The story will center on Wilberforce's efforts as a member of Parliament in 18th-century England to end slavery and the slave trade in the British empire. Wilberforce was elected to the House of Commons when he was 21 years old and focused on the issue of slavery, successfully organizing a diverse coalition that went up against the most powerful men of the time.

The film weaves the science behind the issue of global warming with the former vice president Al Gore's personal history and longtime commitment to communicating the pressing need to reverse the effects of global climate change.
