Set in 1978, “Big Stone Gap” tells the story of the ever-ordinary Ave Maria Mulligan (Judd) who lives a simple life with her mother, runs the pharmacy, directs The Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama, and hopes that Theodore Tipton, her best friend and the high school band director will take their platonic friendship in a romantic direction. Ave Maria waits, and before she knows it, she turns 40. Now the old maid of Big Stone Gap, Ave Maria decides that happiness is for other people – that is, until a long-buried family secret throws her quiet life spectacularly off-course.

The film will center on Rather’s 2004 report on CBS’ “60 Minutes Wednesday”about a series of memos critical of President George W. Bush’s Texas Air National Guard service record that had been discovered in the files of the president’s former commanding officer. The authenticity of those documents was called into question, which led to claims that the memos were forgeries.

The sotry centers on the epic scandal surrounding the marriage between John Ruskin, the eminent Victorian art critic, and Effie Gray. As her husband begins to lose his mind, Effie has to make sure that she is not subject to scandal because of a love affair with John Everett Millais, the young artist who is the darling of her husband’s critical eye.

When members of a religious cult known as Heaven's Veil take their own lives, the truth behind what really happened remains buried deep in the memory of the sole survivor, a five-year-old girl. Thirty years later, the girl returns to the compound with a documentary crew as an adult. They soon discover something that is far more terrifying than anything they could have imagined.

The original documentary was a behind-the-scenes look at the Bolivian presidential election of 2002, when candidate Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada (aka Goni) hired James Carville's Washington-based political consulting firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner to help him win. Goni's poll numbers were dismal, with Bolivians accusing him of being too closely aligned with U.S. interests. Employing the same tactics they do in the U.S., Carville -- who himself flew in -- and his team used focus groups, sloganeering and smear tactics. Goni won by a narrow margin, but the work had only just begun for Carville's team. Bolivia descended into crisis under Goni's rule, and he was ultimately forced to resign.
